Key Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the partner-in-charge of business development and/or the heads of departments in developing and implementing long-term and short-term strategic business development objectives.
- Analyse existing clients and identify prospective clients, competitors’ activities and market trends and opportunities
- Strategize, propose (to the partner-in-charge of business development and/or heads of departments) and implement sustainable initiatives to promote:
• Brand awareness (to external parties)
• Market knowledge (know your market, know your clients)
• Provide business development support
• Identify business opportunities
• Nurture and/or manage client relationship
• Cross-sell and up-sell - Active business support to the various departments of the firm.
- Manage, draft or proof-read all the firm’s external marketing communication (including the firm’s profile, departmental profiles, legal updates, website, and social media) and obtain the approval from the partner-in-charge of business development before publication.
- Manage, draft or proof-read and obtain the approval from the partner-in charge of business development before submitting/uploading the firm’s submissions to selected ranked publications and legal directories (e.g., Chambers and Partners, Legal500, Asialaw Profiles)
Requirements:
- Degree in advertising, business and finance, commerce, business communication, marketing or related field.
- Minimum 5 years working experience as a business development manager in a law firm or similar setting.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and graphic design programmes or applications (e.g. Canva, Adobe Illustrator).
- Confidence and a positive attitude.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Ability to adapt easily and work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations for client service, collaboration, teamwork, attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Malay
- Ability to creatively communicate the firm’s message.
Added Advantage:
- A recognised law degree
- Called to the Malaysian Bar
- Undertaken formal training in business development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin/Chinese
