As the business evolves, <strong>the individual will progressively build and lead a finance team of approximately four to five members<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This opportunity is suited to a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting and financial management capabilities with commercial judgement, resilience and the ability to operate effectively in a changing business environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. <strong>Financial Reporting &amp; Accounting Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Personally manage the full spectrum of finance and accounting activities, including general ledger, month-end closing, management accounts and financial reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare accurate and timely profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and other financial reports for management review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish a structured month-end and year-end closing process, including reconciliations, accruals, provisions and financial schedules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial records and reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate annual audits, tax compliance, statutory filings and other relevant regulatory requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. <strong>P&amp;L Management &amp; Commercial Finance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitor company and project-level financial performance, revenue, costs, gross margins, operating expenses and profitability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyse actual results against budgets, forecasts and project estimates, identifying variances, risks and corrective actions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop project costing, cost allocation and profitability tracking mechanisms relevant to engineering, maintenance and project-based operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work closely with management and operational stakeholders to improve cost control, commercial decision-making and financial performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide financial insights to support tender pricing, contract evaluation and business investment decisions where required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. <strong>Cash Flow &amp; Working Capital Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, liquidity planning and short-term financial projections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor receivables, payables, collections, payment commitments and working capital requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify potential cash flow gaps and recommend practical measures to manage liquidity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support management in evaluating funding requirements, financing options and relationships with banks, lenders and other financial stakeholders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish appropriate financial monitoring mechanisms for project cash flows, contract milestones and payment schedules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. <strong>Finance Process Development &amp; Internal Controls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Build the finance function from scratch, establishing accounting policies, standard operating procedures, reporting templates and financial workflows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design and implement appropriate financial controls, approval matrices, delegation of authority and expenditure monitoring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish processes for budgeting, forecasting, expense management, procurement-related financial controls and financial documentation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess the suitability of existing accounting systems and implement practical improvements to financial reporting and process efficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure finance processes are scalable, auditable and aligned with the company&#8217;s evolving business needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. <strong>Business Restructuring &amp; Financial Transformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work closely with senior management and external advisers to support corporate restructuring, financial stabilisation and operational improvement initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the company&#8217;s financial position, cost structure, profitability, liabilities, working capital and financial commitments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare financial analyses, scenarios and forecasts to support restructuring decisions and business recovery plans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish financial reporting and monitoring mechanisms to track restructuring progress, cost-saving initiatives and financial outcomes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adapt financial priorities, resource allocation and control measures in response to changing business conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support fundraising and financing initiatives through financial information preparation, forecasts, due diligence and engagement with relevant stakeholders, as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. <strong>Budgeting, Forecasting &amp; Management Advisory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lead the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and financial projections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop management dashboards and key financial performance indicators to support informed decision-making.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advise management on financial risks, cost optimisation, resource allocation and business performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity assessments to evaluate the financial implications of business decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Translate financial data into practical recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7. <strong>Team Building &amp; Finance Leadership<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Initially operate as a hands-on individual contributor, personally executing core accounting, reporting and financial management responsibilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess future finance resource requirements and develop a phased plan to establish a finance team of approximately four to five members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recruit, develop and manage finance personnel as the business and transaction volume grow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish clear responsibilities, reporting structures, performance expectations and standardised working procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Progressively delegate operational activities while maintaining oversight of reporting accuracy, financial controls and team performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, MICPA or an equivalent qualification is preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Substantial experience in finance and accounting, with demonstrated capability to operate at a senior finance management level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strong hands-on experience in financial reporting, full-set accounts, management accounts, P&amp;L analysis, cash flow management and budgeting<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven ability to establish or significantly improve finance processes, accounting controls and reporting frameworks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in business restructuring, financial turnaround, organisational transformation or managing finance in a changing business environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand project profitability, cost structures and working capital requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, project-based businesses, MRO or other contract-driven industries would be advantageous.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently as the sole finance professional initially, balancing strategic responsibilities with detailed execution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in a volatile or evolving business environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The salary for this position is up to RM 30,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kindly submit your application to sunny.khoo@peoplelake.asia<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please be informed that only shortlisted candidate will be notified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Position Overview: Key Responsibilities: 1.
