Head of IT for Product & Platform Development (Contract)

About the Client:

Solutions provider developing innovative technology platforms. They has developed two technology solutions: 1. a unique digital ecosystem that transforms and simplifies the e-payment experience for consumers while simultaneously allowing them to earn rewards; and 2. a digital F&B management system providing merchants with a one-stop management and automated solution to digitalize their businesses.

About the role:

We are seeking a hands-on, execution-driven technical lead to own the architecture, development, and delivery of a new AI-enabled lifestyle and commerce platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of IT will drive full-stack development, define the technical roadmap, and build a lean, agile tech team to bring the platform from concept to launch. This role is focused on product development technology (distinct from internal IT operations) and offers the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership position as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technology vision & architecture: Define and implement the platform’s technical architecture. Select technologies and infrastructure to ensure scalability, performance, and modularity.
• Full-stack development leadership: Lead backend and frontend buildout. Deliver a robust, user-facing product that integrates AI and commerce functionality.
• DevOps & system reliability: Set up CI/CD, deployment workflows, and performance monitoring. Ensure uptime, security, and a seamless user experience.
• Agile execution & delivery: Run lean sprints. Set milestones, manage trade-offs, and deliver a functional MVP aligned to business objectives.
• Team building & mentorship: Hire and lead a high-performing tech team. Begin with a full-stack engineer and expand the team as needed post-launch.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, Business Analyst, and commercial leads to align technical execution with product and go-to-market strategies.
• Product technology ownership: Operate independently of the corporate IT function (managed separately) with full focus on product architecture and delivery.

Ideal Candidate Profile / Qualifications:

• 7+ years in full-stack software engineering, with experience in startup or product-driven environments
• Track record of delivering consumer-facing platforms or products from zero to launch
• Deep understanding of backend systems, APIs, databases, and frontend frameworks
• Proficient in modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.) and DevOps best practices
• Strong architectural decision-making and hands-on coding ability
• Agile, decisive, and comfortable working under tight timelines with high autonomy
• Clear communicator who can collaborate with non-technical teams and founders
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
