Celebrating a 40-Year Legacy

This partnership is especially significant as MWKA marks its 40th anniversary. Founded in 1985 by the retired appellate court judge Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai, the firm’s journey from a one-man practice to a respected name in the legal community is a powerful story of integrity and a commitment to justice. Dato’ Mah’s own distinguished career, including his service as a human rights commissioner with SUHAKAM, continues to inspire the firm’s values today.

A New Chapter: The MWKA Foundation

To celebrate this milestone, MWKA has established the MWKA Foundation, a structured and purposeful initiative to give back to the community. In a powerful commitment to its mission, the firm has joined the global Pledge 1% movement, dedicating 1% of all legal fees to fund the Foundation’s work.

The Foundation will drive change through three core pillars: Promoting Access to Justice by funding legal representation for those in need, Supporting Legal Education for the next generation of lawyers, and Advancing Public Legal Awareness through community outreach.

A Landmark Launch

We were privileged to attend the Foundation’s official launch at a recent Fundraising Gala Dinner. The event was graced by the presence of the Former Chief Justice of Malaya, Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, a testament to the importance of the Foundation’s mission and the high regard for MWKA within the legal community.
