Finance Manager (Start up – Immediate joiner)

About the Client:

Newly setup shared services company offering HR, Finance, and IT support to fast-growing businesses. They handle essential back-office functions, allowing their clients to focus on their core operations. The Finance Manager will lead the finance function supporting both the internal operations and client companies.

About the role:

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Finance Manager to oversee financial operations and reporting for both the Company and their clients. The role involves managing a team of junior finance staff and ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial reports, statutory submissions, and budgeting support. This position includes managing the budgeting process for clients and enforcing finance policies issued by their HQ, with monthly review responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Client-Facing Finance Services

  • Oversee bookkeeping and monthly accounting for multiple client companies.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Handle regulatory compliance including SSM, LHDN, EPF, SOCSO, and SST.
  • Implement and enforce finance policies received from client HQs.
  • Manage the budgeting process for clients, including data collection, consolidation, and forecasting.
  • Conduct monthly finance reviews with each client’s HQ to discuss performance and variances.
  • Provide basic tax strategy advice and support audit processes.
  • Maintain SLAs and ensure quality benchmarks for finance delivery.

Internal Finance Management

  • Manage internal finance operations including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution in collaboration with the HR team.
  • Monitor cash flow and financial health of The Company.
  • Establish internal financial controls and compliance policies.
  • Collaborate with leadership on financial planning and cost optimization.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and develop junior finance staff and interns.
  • Allocate workload, provide coaching, and ensure skill development.
  • Implement process improvements and drive automation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian financial regulations and tax compliance.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or shared services environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., SQL, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in managing budgeting cycles and policy enforcement for external clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Member of a professional body (e.g., ACCA, CPA, MICPA) is an advantage.
  • Exposure to tax strategy, audit preparation, or outsourced accounting models is beneficial.
