Group Accountant

About the Client

Our client is a prominent conglomerate listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. Presently, the portfolio encompasses more than 30 companies engaged in various sectors such as oil tools, property development, phosphates and cement manufacturing, construction materials, trading, financial services, telco infrastructure and other related services.

Job Purpose:

To support the General Manager, Group Finance in the area of financial controllership, with the on-going restructuring of the Group’s Finance function.

Job Descriptions:

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual fi nancial statements in accordance with MFRS (Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards) and IFRS.
• Ensure compliance with Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, Securities Commission guidelines, and other local regulations.
• Lead the preparation and fi ling of quarterly and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and transparency in fi nancial disclosures.
• Drafting of statutory fi nancial statements of the Group and sub-group, and review of subsidiary companies’ statutory accounts to relevant regulatory requirements
• Prepare notes highlighting key trends and variances to profi t or loss, balance sheet, analytical reports and insights on the impact of changes on business.
• Prepare RRPT report and ensure submission to Group Internal Audit Department within the agreed timeline
• Prepare templates and ensure Business Units (BU) receive the information required for reports.
• Support the preparation of the Group Budget and Cash Flow Projection.
• Oversee group-level adjustments and reconciliations
• Conduct comprehensive research on MFRS and Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements.
• Monitor, interpret, and summarise changes in accounting standards and listing rules.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit fi ndings.
• Document, review, and improve fi nancial policies and procedures to enhance control and operational effi ciency.
• Liaise with diff erent stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide suitable recommendations.
• Possess strong communication and collaboration skills to eff ectively engage with subsidiary fi nance teams, ensuring smooth coordination and alignment on fi nancial matters.
• Participate in the development and presentation of educational materials for internal audiences.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a recognized professional qualifi cation (ACCA/CPA), and membership in IIAM, MIA, CIMA, or MICPA.
• Preferably 8 years of experience in fi nancial, accounting, or related fi elds, with a balanced understanding of commercial operations.
• Strong analytical skills in accounting, fi nance, and audit, along with eff ective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Able to work independently, compliance-driven, and maintain strict confi dentiality.
• Flexible and adaptable, with an open-minded approach to feedback and a collaborative mindset.
