About our client:
Our client is a dynamic and fast-growing company in the clean energy and engineering sector, operating as part of a public-listed conglomerate. As a forward-looking energy solutions provider, they are involved in large-scale solar (LSS) projects and infrastructure, contributing to Malaysia’s sustainability goals. With solid backing and strong growth momentum, they are currently looking for a capable and strategic Head of Accounts to lead their finance function.
Note: Candidates who are able to join by July 2025 will be prioritised.
Job Purpose:
- Lead the accounting department, ensuring accurate records, compliance, and effective internal controls.
- Manage all core accounting operations: general ledger, financial reporting, project costing, AP/AR and statutory audit.
- Support budgetary control and integrate operational accounting with overall financial planning and treasury.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger
- Oversee general ledger accuracy and group consolidation.
- Ensure MFRS compliance and timely reporting.
2. Project Accounting & Cost Control
- Set up job costing for project tracking and variance analysis.
- Monitor allocation of costs (labour, overheads, materials).
3. AP/AR Management
- Supervise vendor payments, billing milestones and receivables collection.
4. Fixed Assets & Inventory
- Track capital expenditures and site inventory.
5. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure tax compliance (SST, e-invoicing, etc.).
- Lead audits and policy updates.
6. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Implement controls and streamline processes.
7. Cash Flow & Treasury
- Monitor cash position, payment approvals, bank reconciliations, facilities and forecasts.
8. ERP & Systems
- Oversee accounting in ERP (e.g., Dynamics 365), coordinate IT compliance.
9. Team Leadership
- Mentor the accounting team, set KPIs and foster a high-performance culture.
10. Ad-hoc Duties
- Undertake other responsibilities related to the finance function as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Industry experience in construction or engineering sectors is highly preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (professional certifications are a plus).
Knowledge:
- Strong grasp of MFRS, construction accounting (WIP, BOQ, retention), taxation, and ERP systems.
Skills & Attributes:

- Able to lead teams and manage reporting deadlines.
- Ethical, proactive, accountable and business-savvy.
Work Conditions:
- Office-based, with occasional travel to project sites or warehouses.
- Standard 5-day workweek; additional hours required during audits, closings and reporting cycles.
