About the role:
The Network Architecture Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining the organisation’s network technology roadmap, architecture design, and automation strategy across SD-WAN, SASE, data centres, and cloud platforms. You will drive the adoption of latest network architecture while managing vendor relationships, budgets, and a team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and implement the overall network strategy and technology roadmap spanning LAN, WAN, data centres, cloud, and telecom systems.
- Lead network architecture design, feasibility studies, cost analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Drive modernisation initiatives including SD-WAN, automation, zero-trust, and SASE adoption.
- Guide short- and long-term technology roadmaps, embedding industry best practices.
- Conduct compliance gap assessments and implement remediation plans.
- Oversee CAPEX/OPEX budgets, cost optimisation, vendor assessments, and procurement cycles (RFI/RFP/RFQ).
- Lead strategic Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives, defining success criteria and ensuring data-driven adoption decisions.
- Manage, mentor, and grow the network engineering team – setting performance goals, certifications, and career progression paths.
- Partner with IT, security, cloud, and business units to align network capabilities with organisational goals.
- Drive adoption of automation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform) and modern monitoring platforms.
Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent – recognised by the Malaysian government – with minimum CGPA of 3.00 / 2nd Class Upper.
- Pass in Bahasa Melayu (including oral), English and Modern Maths at SPM level.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with at least 2–5 years in management or senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record overseeing large-scale, high-availability networks, including global or multi-site operations.
- Broad expertise in routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN) and data centre architectures.
- Strong understanding of SD-WAN, SASE or similar advanced technologies.
- Solid knowledge of network security concepts – firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, zero-trust architecture, and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with Hybrid Cloud Architecture.
- Proficiency in network automation/orchestration tools – Python, Ansible, Terraform – plus modern monitoring platforms (added advantage).
- Proven ability to develop and own network strategy, roadmap, capacity planning, and resilience initiatives.
- Strong budget and vendor management experience – procurement cycles, asset lifecycles, CAPEX/OPEX.
- Excellent stakeholder management across IT, security, cloud, and business units.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu.
- Willing to travel when required.
