Job Purpose:
- To manage and negotiate complex contracts with vendors and customers, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, company policies and customer/vendor standards.
- The role also supports effective project delivery through integration of contract management with project management and project control functions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts with vendors and customers, including master service agreements, statements of work, amendments and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, company policies and customer/vendor standards.
- Manage the contract lifecycle from initiation to close-out, including monitoring deliverables and timelines, resolving disputes and managing renewals and extensions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, operations, and procurement, to ensure contracts are aligned with business objectives and meet company requirements.
- Support project planning and execution by integrating contract strategies with project control activities, including budgeting, scheduling and risk management.
- Analyse contract performance and identify areas for improvement, including risk mitigation strategies and process improvements.
- Provide oversight on project governance and reporting related to contract execution and project control metrics (e.g., earned value, progress tracking).
- Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and customers, including conducting regular business reviews and addressing issues as needed.
- Adept at budget planning, tender, procurement, project monitoring, pre-and post-contract administration, contractual claims and subcontract management.
- Provides technical advice on contractual matters at all stages of proposals and projects.
- Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to contract oversight, ensuring alignment with the technical needs of projects such as plant development and similar manufacturing-based initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in contract or commercial management, including at least 5 years in a senior position.
- Candidates with a mechanical / construction engineering background is strongly preferred, particularly those with experience supporting plant development or other mechanical/manufacturing-centric projects.
- Strong understanding of contract law, procurement practices and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in project management and project control, including exposure to scheduling, cost control and risk management.
- Proven track record in negotiating and managing high-value, complex contracts.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Industry exposure across infrastructure, civil works, rail, renewable energy and plant-based manufacturing environments is highly advantageous.
