SMT Process Engineer

About the Client

Our client is a rapidly growing electronics manufacturing company based in Perak, Malaysia, operating as a key regional hub for a well-established international group headquartered in Asia. Since its incorporation in 2018, the company has specialized in PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and a wide range of electronic components, including resistors, capacitors, coils, and transformers.

Job Summary:

The SMT Process Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective production. The role involves process troubleshooting, equipment maintenance coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

• Set up, monitor, and maintain SMT production lines (e.g: stencil printers, pick & place machines, reflow ovens).
• Perform root cause analysis on process and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure smooth operation and compliance with standards.
• Conduct process validation for new product introduction (NPI).
• Optimize machine parameters and material flow for better efficiency.
• Support preventive maintenance and calibration of SMT equipment.
• Prepare documentation such as work instructions, setup sheets, and engineering reports.

Job Requirements

• Qualification: At least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in SMT processes and equipment.
• Familiar with IPC standards and SMT quality requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.
