Thriving at PeopleLAKE: A Culture That Listens, Cares, and Rewards

Sunny profile picture

When people ask me why I love working at PeopleLAKE, I usually pause—not because I don’t know what to say, but because I don’t know where to start. Do I begin with the pickleball matches? The AI-driven recruitment tools? Or the fact that I got rewarded with an overseas trip where I ate enough Taiwanese street food to qualify as a part-time food blogger?

The truth is, PeopleLAKE isn’t just a place to work—it’s a place to thrive. Let me explain.

1. Feedback That Actually Changes Things (Yes, Really)

At many companies, giving “constructive feedback” feels like whispering into the void. At PeopleLAKE, it’s different. When I told management that meetings were dragging longer than a bad TV drama, they didn’t just smile politely. They changed the format—shorter, sharper, and far more energising. Suddenly, meetings felt less like marathons and more like power boosts.

Our directors also don’t hoard decision-making power like a dragon guarding gold. They happily delegate leadership responsibilities, giving me the autonomy to plan and execute. It feels good to know my ideas don’t just sit in a notebook—they actually shape outcomes.

And then there’s technology. While some companies cling to outdated spreadsheets like a comfort blanket, we embrace tools that streamline processes, reduce errors, and give us an edge. Whether it’s synchronising multiple data sources into an AI-powered database or upgrading our sourcing platforms, we’re constantly finding ways to work smarter.

Oh, besides working, we also play hard. Our directors listen when we say we need more bonding outside of work. Hence the bowling nights, badminton matches, and yes, pickleball (which, by the way, is far more intense than it sounds).

2. Accepted for Who I Am (Quirks and All)

If I could put PeopleLAKE into two words, it would be: human first.

Here, I’m not just a KPI machine. I’m me—quirks, working style, and all. My directors don’t expect me to fit into a rigid mould. Instead, they give me the flexibility to do things my way, as long as the results are there. That trust makes all the difference. And when life throws challenges my way (as it inevitably does), I’ve been met with real empathy. Not the “pat on the back, now get back to work” type, but genuine patience and understanding. Sometimes that means giving me space to recharge before diving back into the recruitment battlefield. It’s this kind of support that keeps burnout at bay and motivation high.

3. Rewards That Make Sense (and Make Me Smile)

Performance here doesn’t just get noticed—it gets rewarded in ways that feel thoughtful and personal.

Take supplements, for instance. Yes, supplements. PeopleLAKE provides a generous allowance for health products—including traditional Chinese medicine. It’s one of those benefits that makes you go, “Wow, they actually care about my well-being.” And trust me, it works—I feel healthier, sharper, and even a little happier (probably because I know my vitamins are on the company tab).

Then there’s the travel reward. Instead of a cookie-cutter group trip with matching T-shirts, I get to design my own adventure. This year, I picked Taiwan, and it was amazing. Between the night markets, the sightseeing, and the endless stream of bubble tea, I came back recharged, grateful, and maybe a kilo or two heavier. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A Big Thank You

All of this—the openness, empathy, and fair rewards—creates more than just a job. It creates a workplace where people genuinely feel valued and supported.

I’m thankful to my directors, who trust and inspire me. And I’m even more thankful to my colleagues—the ones who brainstorm with me, share knowledge generously, and battle alongside me in the competitive world of recruitment. Together, we laugh, we learn, and yes, we occasionally whine about sourcing challenges (before solving them anyway).

Why PeopleLAKE Is Different

At the end of the day, PeopleLAKE isn’t just about filling positions—it’s about building futures. It’s about creating an environment where feedback sparks change, individual achievement is celebrated, empathy is real, and hard work pays off (sometimes in the form of bubble tea in Taipei).

So when people ask me why I stay at PeopleLAKE, the answer is simple: because here, I don’t just work. I grow, I thrive, and I belong.
