Our client is a well-established organisation in Malaysia, responsible for managing large-scale, mission-critical digital infrastructure that supports a wide range of stakeholders nationwide. They are currently undergoing a significant technology transformation and are looking for operational leaders to ensure network stability, security, and service excellence.
About the Role
The Network Operations Manger is a leadership role focused on ensuring daily network stability, performance, and security. You will own incident management, root cause analysis, SLA compliance, and network security operations (firewalls, load balancers, proxies, URL filtering). This role spans two domains: Network Data (campus & data centre operations) and Network Security (security controls operations).
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the network operations team – establishing operating models, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure availability, performance, and stability of network services in accordance with agreed SLA/SLOs.
- Manage proactive monitoring, alerting, capacity management, and change management.
- Lead incident and problem management, including root cause analysis (RCA) for high-impact disruptions.
- Reduce MTTR and enhance user experience through continuous operational improvements.
- Work closely with the security team on network security control operations (firewalls, load balancers, URL filtering, proxies).
- Support security incident response from a network operations perspective.
- Ensure operational compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Manage service providers, network vendors, and support contracts – monitoring vendor performance and SLA compliance.
- Support operational budget planning and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Drive adoption of operational automation, monitoring tools, and ITSM practices.
- Improve processes through standardisation and operational data insights.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure smooth design-to-operations handover.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the network operations team.
- Manage operational communications with key stakeholders – business units, IT teams, security, and vendors.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on operational status, SLA performance, risks, and major incidents.
- Lead network incident response and root cause analysis jointly with the Head of Network Engineering.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent – recognised by the Malaysian government – with minimum CGPA of 3.00.
- Pass in Bahasa Melayu (including oral) at SPM level or equivalent government-recognised qualification.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in network operations across LAN/WAN/DC/cloud environments.
- At least 2–5 years in management or senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record overseeing large-scale, high-availability networks, including global or multi-site operations.
- Broad expertise in routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN) and data centre architectures (spine-leaf).
- Strong understanding of SD-WAN or similar advanced technologies.
- Solid knowledge of network security concepts – firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, zero-trust architecture, and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid connectivity solutions.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and scaling network operations teams – setting clear goals and fostering professional growth.
- Proven ability to develop and own network strategy, roadmap, capacity planning, and resilience initiatives.
- Strong budget and vendor management experience – procurement cycles, asset lifecycles, CAPEX/OPEX.
- Excellent stakeholder management across IT, security, cloud, and business units.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu.
- Strong problem-solving mindset – incident management, root cause analysis, SLA enforcement, disaster recovery planning.
- Proficiency in performance monitoring, capacity forecasting, and optimisation.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including after-hours support when required.
- Willing to travel and work in Kwasa Damansara Office (HQ).
- Professional certifications (Public Clouds, ITIL, etc.) are an added advantage.
