SMT Section Manager

About the Client

Our client is a rapidly growing electronics manufacturing company based in Perak, Malaysia, operating as a key regional hub for a well-established international group headquartered in Asia. Since its incorporation in 2018, the company has specialized in PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and a wide range of electronic components, including resistors, capacitors, coils, and transformers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production activities to achieve timely delivery, superior quality, and optimized throughput.
  • Manage and coordinate team schedules, training programs, performance reviews, and strict adherence to established quality standards.
  • Ensure SMT equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and operated at maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with planning, engineering, and QA teams to streamline processes and eliminate production bottlenecks.
  • Analyze production reports, yields, and downtime data, implementing corrective and improvement measures where necessary.
  • Uphold compliance with IPC standards and internal quality management systems across all operations.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve machine, process, and quality-related issues promptly.
  • Oversee and control SMT component inventory and material management to support uninterrupted production.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, product quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive operational performance reports to senior management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in PCB assembly, with solid expertise in SMT operations.
  • Skilled in operating and managing SMT production equipment and technologies, including Solder Paste Printers, AOI, SPI, and X-ray inspection systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of PCB assembly processes and SMT line operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and inspire production teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven experience in production planning and resource management.
  • Capable of maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for machine, process, and quality-related issues.
  • Analytical, data-driven approach to improving yields, efficiency, and overall performance.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including planning, engineering, and quality assurance.
  • Strong communication, reporting, and documentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia is required.
  • Mandarin fluency is essential to ensure effective communication with Mandarin-speaking clients.
